The Association des proches de personnes atteintes de maladie mentale de l'Estrie (association for the loved ones of those with a mental illness in the Estrie region or APPAMM-ESTRIE) provides support and information to relatives and friends of people with a mental illness. A range of free and confidential services is available to them.
Supporting a person with a mental illness, while at the same time attempting to find your way in Quebec’s mental health care and services structure, can be challenging.
APPAMM-ESTRIE has been accompanying families for more than 30 years.
In the event of a crisis
The urgence-détresse hotline is available 24/7.
Does your loved one seem like a completely different person these days? Are they acting in an unusual manner? Displaying symptoms of a mental illness? Exhibiting violent behaviour? Are you feeling overwhelmed and are you worried about them? We are here to provide you with support.
APPAMM-ESTRIE provides information and support for the loved ones of those with a mental illness, including during crisis situations. Help can be provided either by phone or through a meeting in our offices. In the latter case, it is preferable that you schedule an appointment before coming to our offices, to ensure that someone is available to meet with you.
APPAMM-ESTRIE’s offices are open from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Outside of business hours, you can contact the Urgence-Détresse hotline operated by the CSSS in your region.
However, if you find yourself in a situation where your life or that of a loved one is in danger, immediately call 9-1-1.
